In between Prague and Eindhoven, we returned to one of our favorite recordings venues - the Leibniz Saal (formerly the Beethoven Saal) in Hannover's Congress Centrum for Michael Fine's fifth recording with cellist Mark Kosower, the solo cellist of the Cleveland Orchestra. The repertoire this time was Brahms: his two cello sonatas as well as the composer's transcription of the Violin Sonata in G - The Raindrop - for cello and piano. Accompanying Mark on a Bosendoerfer prepared by Gerd Finkenstein was pianist Jee-Won Oh. Wolf-Dieter Karwatky was engineer for the sessions.
Michael Fine traveled to Seoul to record the inaugural concerts of the One Korea Orchestra in an all-Beethoven program with Maestro Myung Whun Chung and pianist Seongjin Cho. The program of Beethoven's Fifth Symphony and Emperor Concerto will be released on Deutsche Grammophon in 2018. The recording was made in Lotte Hall on the occasion of the second anniversary of the hall's opening. Jin Choi worked with Michael as balance engineer.
Getting ready to produce seven recordings over the next few months: Seoul, Prague, Glasgow, Eindhoven, Hannover, London. Details to follow!
