Deutsche Grammophon releases our recording of the opening concert at Seoul's splendid new Lotte Hall (acoustics by Yasuhisa Toyota. Maestro Myung Whun Chung conducted the Seoul Philharmonic in music of Beethoven, Saint-Saens and the traditional Korean 'Arirang.' Michael Fine produced, edited, and mixed the recording. Jin Choi was the recording engineer.
Decca releases our recording of Norman Krieger's Brahms Piano Concerto Nr. 2 and Piano Sonata 1. The Concerto was recorded in Abbey Road Studios, London with the London Symphony Orchestra and conductor Philip Ryan Mann. (LSO solo cellist Rebecca Gilliver played the third movement solo.) The Sonata was recorded in Berlin's Jesus Christus Kirche. Michael Fine produced and edited the recording; Wolf-Dieter Karwatky was the engineer. Steinway piano for both recordings provided by Gerd Finkenstein. (For history and nostalgia buffs, we used the famed 'red-light' from sessions with Karajan and Furtwaengler!)
Paris' Salle Colonne was the scene of a new recording of Debussy's Sonata for Flute, Viola, and Harp with the world-class trio of flutist Emmanuel Pahud, violist Gérard Caussé, and harpist Marie-Pierre Langlamet. Pahud also recorded Debussy's Syrinx for what will be a new CD for Erato of the complete chamber works of Claude Debussy. Sessions resume in Paris in March for the Violin Sonata (Renaud Capuçon) and Cello Sonata (Edgar Moreau). The pianist will be Betrand Chamyou. Michael Fine is the album producer/artistic director with Jin Choi, engineer.
Decca Records releases our recording of Mahler's Symphony 5 with conductor Shi Yeon Sung and the Gyeonggi Philharmonic. The orchestra's first recording, it was made in Seoul's new Lotte Hall in August 2016 with Michael Fine producer, Jin Choi, engineer.
'Intuitions,' Gautier Capuçon's exciting and imaginative new CD was recorded in the Philaharmonie de Paris' superb new Studio 1 with the Orchestre de Chambre de Paris, conducted by their Music Director, Douglas Boyd with additional tracks accompanied by pianist Jérôme Ducros. The wide ranging repertoire includes favorites by Dvorak and Massenet as well as lesser known music by Ducros and Sollima's thrilling Concerto for Two Cellos. Michael Fine produced the recording with engineer Jin Choi.
